Gotcha Day

Taken as we were getting them ready to leave KC, KS
A year ago today, C and I went to court to legally make our two little angels ours. They had been ours from the moment they were born, but this made it official. Afterwards, we feed them and hit the road entering Missouri as fast as we could and hightailing it home. They were so tiny and perfect and continue to be. We had a picture taken with the judge, but it is on one of my dead computers and as soon as I retrieve it, it will be post.

I have also noticed that October and November of last year had no post. A was in the NICU and spent a lot of time going there and back. Regret nothing was documented except maybe on fb...

*Note, the straps look loose, but I promise they were not when we drove off.

GI issues

A eating lunch
I just got back from the doctor with A. She has lost 9 oz and still spitting/throwing up. This is mainly due to post-nasal drip so the doctor has her on Zyrtec and reflux meds. I also kept her in her car seat and propped her bottle up on her pillow pet because she can be a bit lazy in that area. The doctor is talking about having to do a G tube and is sending us to a GI doctor next Tuesday. She is not thriving and has also been the fussiest of fussy eaters. Keep the prayers coming for my tiny angel.

And so J doesn't go all "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha" on us for all the A updates: He is his usual sunny self and getting better every day. I sang This Little Light of Mine to them this morning and he laughed and danced. Love it!

Sickness go Away!

A so tired, she fell asleep sitting up.
I don't update this blog as often as I should. I find myself going to fb a lot for quick updates and I know people are probably tired of them all LOL

A has been diagnosed with bronchitis/RSV. She has not been keeping much down and seems to be doing fluids better today. However, she is still coughing and has a lot of phlegm. Developmentally she is still the same. Lost a little weight, but still very active and she has one adorable snaggle tooth.

J is still getting breathing treatments for his pneumonia, and still has a congested sounding cough, but he is getting his appetite back and is all over the place. I also think he is teething as he is ALWAYS sucking his bottom lip and drooling like he did when he first started cutting teeth. Any tips on how to get him to stop? He has such a cute lip and I don't want him to mess it up.

All together

A year ago today A was released from the hospital after 6 long weeks. She weighted 4 pounds even. We were so excited, but also a little scared because of how little she was. The twins were finally reunited after three weeks. The last year has been full of adventures and it's ups and downs, but having my babies under the same roof that night was amazing and I cannot believe how much they have grown!

A's Adventureous Week

After taking A to the doctor every day since Thursday, September 13, her pediatrician on Monday wanted her admitted to Children's. She was sleeping non-stop had refused fluids and food and we had been to the ER the night before for fluids. We waited for an hour in the secondary waiting area, then another hour in the room. After urine, blood (where she was stuck 6+ times) and CT they told us that she had fluid on the brain and that she would need to see neurology. We were finally taken to a room at 11pm after being in the ER a total of seven hours. She did perk up a little and we snuggled until 1am.

At 4am she (and I) were rudely awaken for more labs and I had to hold her down again. I couldn't sleep and at 7am the doctors did their rounds not really telling me anything and an hour later the neurologist came and said he was not concerned at all and had probably been born with it and we'd watch it. I tried getting her to eat all day and she ate a bite here and there, but still wouldn't drink and sleep all but about 2 hours off and on. Repeat next day (Wednesday) until about 4pm. They had taken her IV out around 2 and two hours later I not only got her to drink but she downed 2 oz! She also played until about 8 and slept until 7am where she woke up and started playing quietly like she normally does. They were pleased and discharged us with orders to feed her 1000 calories a day but without telling us how.

I will have to take her once a week to OT where they will do eating and speech therapy,  and they will do a GI test on her. She had never been a great eater and this will help her get there. I will say that I have never seen her eat as well as she has the last two days. Maybe we have turned a big corner with her and I can get my 14 pound 13 month old to the twenties!

On the downside I came home to a very sick boy. J has a high fever, cough, low hemoglobin and white blood count and not eating. He is drinking, but not eat. If you know my son you know how serious this is cause he will eat anything and everything.

Keep the prayers coming.

Sick Little One

A finally  has a tooth, but she is not eating or drinking well. Once we get her over her fever/rash she is going to go to a nutritionist to see why she is not gaining weight as she only weights 14lbs and while she is gaining weight it's about a ounce per week. She is cruising and crawling and doing well there. She even loves to go to the park and play. Once we get the food issue down which has been a struggle from day one. I am taking her back to the doctor again tomorrow so we will see and hopefully get some answers with everything.

J eats like a little piggy like he always has and feeds himself, cruises and crawls. Developmentally they are the same except for the eating and we are now working on communication with both of them.
