We arrived at the hospital at 9:30. I was with the bm when she checked in, and filled out the pw for the birth certificate and the birth announcement. She was preped for OR and told that they were afraid the placenta attached to the muscle and if it had and she bleed she would need a transfusion and a hysterectomy. But God was with us and she went through the c-section great and so did the babies!
Jack was 4lb 12 oz and Abby was 2ob 6oz. Jack needed no extra help, and Abby only needed a Bubble c-pap. Abby is a fighter and feisty. She was thought to be anemic and was not and scored a 5.99 on the Apgar (Jack scored a 7.99).
We got to take their temps and change diapers. The nurses have been wonderful with everything
After dinner the bm signed pw to allow all medical information to be disclosed to us, and for unlimited visits. We got to watch Jack have his first bath, and hold him and Abby. The nurse even took our first family photo! Technically we were suppose to leave at 9, but she let us stay until 10 to do all of this. I loved every minute of it :-)
It was exciting to be in the delivery room and to be able to see the babies the moment the teams did the apgar and got them settled and then going straight to NICU with them. This has been such a wonderful, pleasant experience and I will cherish it forever. We have crib cards with their (our) names on them and the sweet bm gave us outfits, a stuffed animal for each and scrap book stuff. This young lady is truly a gift from God.
Asking for continued prayers!
